Ethereum: The Scroll of Code

1:1 As the price of digital gold rose, the builders gathered in the shadow of Bitcoin.

1:2 And they saw that Bitcoin was strong, yet silent — a store of value, but not of application.

1:3 And they said, “Let us build a new chain, one that speaketh in code and giveth birth to many tokens.”

1:4 A chain not bound to scarcity alone, but fertile in logic, where every coin may beget another.

1:5 And they called it Ethereum. And its prophet was young and pale, with the name of Vitalik.

1:6 And the Foundation was formed, and the vision was cast: a world computer for the people.

1:7 And they compiled. The smart contract was born. And the devs did rejoice.

1:8 And tokens multiplied — not one, but thousands. Each with a vision, and none with a product.

1:9 There were tokens for cloud storage, and tokens for social media. Tokens for teeth whitening, and tokens for world peace.

1:10 And the people sent ETH into the void, hoping it would return multiplied.

1:11 And the term “ICO” was preached in every tongue, and gains were spoken of like gospel.

1:12 And lo, CryptoKitties did clog the chain, and the blocks grew heavy with fur.

1:13 Yet the mania did not cease, for the thirst was great.

1:14 And some were enriched beyond measure, while others held bags that never rose again.

1:15 And the prophecy of decentralized finance was whispered, but not yet fulfilled.

1:16 And it was said: Ethereum brought forth innovation, but also confusion.

1:17 And those who came for freedom found contracts they could not read.

1:18 Thus was the first cycle of Ethereum complete — of code, of hope, and of hubris.
